Read Mama’s Food Shop owner Jeremiah Clancy’s thoughts on the East Village. He explains how the lifeblood of the neighborhood is being sucked out by a generation looking for ‘trends,’ not a community. And that emotion of cultural faux invasion was beautifully explained by a mural on Mama’s wall that read “Yuppies Commit Mass Suicide.”
